A Note from the Get Together Team
Over a year ago, we (Bailey, Kevin, and Kai of People & Company) started a podcast called “Get Together.” Inspired by our book, the show spotlights ordinary people building extraordinary communities.
To date, we’ve published over 40 episodes and featured the stories behind community leaders like Lola Omolola of Female IN (one of the fastest growing groups in Facebook’s history), Margret Aldrich of Little Free Library, Nobu Adilman of Choir! Choir! Choir!, Courtland Allen of Indie Hackers, and Alisha Ramos of Girls' Night In. We highlight these remarkable leaders in hopes of inspiring our listeners across the world to bring people together around something they care about—whether personal, political or professional.
Our philosophy is “build with your people, not for them” and that approach is woven into everything we do. We make this podcast with a small but mighty team that helps with editing, engineering, promotion, and design (shoutout to Mia, Maggie, Greg, Mika, Katie, Bill and Wildsound).
Today, our team is looking for a new correspondent to help expand the stories we tell.
Think of this program as a hands-on, mini crash course in podcasting. With our coaching, you’ll be responsible for sourcing and leading three interviews over the course of three months. You’ll walk away with the experience of producing an interview-style podcast with the support of our team. Plus, you’ll be compensated and get a microphone that’s yours to keep.
No podcasting experience is necessary.
If you are passionate about communities that are bridging the gaps between us and eager to develop your interviewing and podcasting muscles, we’d love to meet you.
Applications have closed for the first correspondent program. Leave your email and we will let you know when the application for our second correspondent program goes live.
Onward! 🙌

If you haven’t listened to Get Together before, here’s an episode featuring Catt Small. She tells the story behind Game Developers of Color Expo (GDoC) and the work behind building a radically inclusive community.
About Our Podcast Correspondent Program
WHAT THE PROGRAM ENTAILS
Join People & Company’s podcast team for a 3-month program that will kickstart your podcasting skills
Produce 3 episodes (1 per month) of the “Get Together” podcast, guiding your episodes through each phase from research to outreach, co-hosting to editing. We estimate that work will require ≤ 10hrs per month.
Compensation: $900 + a microphone for you to keep. We’ll cover costs related to creating the episodes (e.g. sound engineer, recording software, transcriptions, distribution, and show artwork)
WHO THE PROGRAM IS FOR
You’re curious about communities. We use our platform to spotlight the ordinary people building extraordinary communities that can bridge the gaps between us. Members of our team are passionate about how people come together and the leaders behind it.
You’re an advocate for underrepresented voices. We aim to elevate community leaders from racial backgrounds, gender identities, or parts of the world that are underrepresented in mainstream American media. We expect our new correspondent to share that drive. Note: We are committed to amplifying more Black voices and their stories. Over the next six months, a minimum of 30% of who we feature will be Black leaders.
No podcasting experience needed. Wanted to learn to podcast but haven’t had the time, resources or platform? No worries. Our team will coach you!
WHO THIS IS *NOT* FOR
This isn’t for experienced podcasters. We want to give someone new to the industry a launchpad. Maybe they start their own podcast after this. 🙃
This isn’t a full time job. This program will last for a 3-month cycle, and we estimate that work will require ≤ 10hrs per month. We may continue to collaborate with these correspondents after the three months. However, right now we’re thinking about this as a program we might run multiple times a year with fresh voices.
